Flat-earth Atheism and the Pledge of Allegiance I must admit to being a little perplexed about atheists who protest injustice. It's hard to understand why atheists believes they has any rights to be violated. If Creator God isn't real, then we are all just animals in an accidental universe. What justice do animals know other than the law of the jungle?
The Death Of The Nation
When Nations Die There are many reasons for the decline and fall of a nation, but an important (and often overlooked) reason is its abandonment of religion. Is It Too Late For America The chilling thing about our behavior as a nation is that the Bible teaches that when a nation under judgment refuses to repent, it will ultimately reach a point where God will deliver it from judgment to wrath from discipline to doom. Only A Miracle Can Save America Now If God intends to give America another chance, if He intends to return these United States to constitutional government, and if He intends to preserve America's independence, it will only come in the form of a miracle. And miracles do not happen by the machinations of pragmatic planners. Miracles are just that.
Christians and Their Country
What Do We Owe The Government? Should we respect leaders and political systems even if we believe they are godless and corrupt? Is flag-waving patriotism a form of idolatry? Do we have the right to withhold taxes if we don't think our government is using the money wisely? Should people who have pledged allegiance to Christ become involved in politics, or should we distance ourselves from the process? How can we pray for our leaders, even if we don't like them? The Christian and Social Action Christians love to try and “change the world” However the Bible calls Christians to reach out first to their own family, than the family of believers, and then the outside world. The logic is plain enough to see: you have no business meddling in the affairs of the wider church if you don’t have affairs in order where you have direct control. I submit that the same logic applies to the wider world: if you cannot manage the church, what on earth are you doing inserting yourself and your views outside the church? Living In Babylon Since the era of the Moral Majority and the rise of the so called "religious right," there has been an ongoing debate within the Christian community about how to define the appropriate relationship between Christians and the contemporary American culture. How To Live For God While Living In Babylon Like Daniel we need to remain stable in a culture that opposes virtually everything Christians stand for and held on to a God centered view, However, also like Daniel, we must show respect while doing so. A Better Society Without The Gospel? It is through the propagation of the gospel and the building of the church, not through politics and the renewal of America, that we are promised that even "the gates of hell shall not prevail" (Mat. 16:18). To demand a return to an alleged "Judeo-Christian ethic" with the unbiblical expectation that the moral quality of our nation will thereby improve is to waste precious time, energy and resources that should be channeled instead to fulfilling Christ’s "great commission."
Politics and Politicians
That Christians have become stupendously gullible is the understatement of the year! Just about all a politician has to do is say, "I'm a conservative. I'm pro-life and pro-family," and Christians sing his or her praises all the way to the voting booth. That is, if he or she is a Republican. Does Presidential Character Count? Is the top executive in this country really just filling the role of a contractor? Or does that office also include the role of ambassador, figurehead, or role model. Is he just a paid worker or is he a symbol of everything we stand for as a country? Liberal or Conservative Though they are too slippery to allow simple definitions, the words "conservatism" and "liberalism" contain hints as to their essential nature. Conservatives want to conserve for society what is right. Liberals want to liberate society from what is wrong. To this extent, both philosophies are in theory right and biblical. Unfortunately, in their practice both are capable of being thoroughly unbiblical.
The Founding Of America
Of the 55 Founding Fathers, twenty-eight were Episcopalians, eight were Presbyterians, seven were Congregationalists, two were Lutheran, two were Dutch Reformed, two were Methodist, two were Roman Catholic, one is unknown, and only three were deists Separation of Church And State;Ā This phrase so frequently invoked today was rarely mentioned by any of the Founders; and even Jefferson explanation of his phrase is diametrically opposed to the manner in which courts apply it today. Separation of church and state€¯ currently means almost exactly the opposite of what it originally meant.
