Moses

Therefore I prayed to the Lord and said..

“O Lord God, do not destroy Your people and Your inheritance whom You have redeemed through Your greatness, whom You have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

Remember Your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; do not look on the stubborness of this people, or on their wickedness or on their sin,

lest the land from which You brought us should say. “Because the Lord was not able to bring them to the land which He promised them, and because He hated them, He has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.”

Yet they are Your people and Your inheritance, whom You brought out by Your mighty power and by Your outstretched arm. “

Hannah

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said..

“O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give Him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.”

1 Samuel 10,11

“...I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord.” Do not consider your maidservant a wicked woman, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now.”  1 Samuel 15,16

David

Then King David went in and sat before the Lord; and he said:

“Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?

And yet this was a small thing in Your sight, O God; and You have also spoken of Your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O Lord God.

What more can David say to you for the honour of Your servant? For You know Your servant.

O Lord, for Your servant’s sake, and according to Your own heart, You have done all this is greatness, in making known all these great things.

O Lord, there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all we have heard with our ears.

And who is like Your people Israel, the one nation on the earth whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people- to make for yourself a name by great and awesome deeds, by driving out nations from before your people whom You redeemed from Egypt?

For You have made Your people Israel Your very own people forever; and You Lord, have become their God.

And now, O Lord, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, let it be established forever, and do as You have said.

So let it be established that Your name may be magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, is Israel’s God; and let the house of Your servant David be established before You.

And now, Lord, You are God, and have promised this goodness to Your servant.

Now You have been pleased to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You have blessed it, O Lord, and it shall be called blessed forever.

Psalm 121

A Song of degrees.

1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd

I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul:

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil:

For Thou art with me;

Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:

Thou anointest my head with oil;

My cup runneth over.

Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Solomon

And Solomon said...
“You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because we walked before You in truth , in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.

And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted.

Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may be able to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”

1Kings 3:6-9

Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread out his hands towards Heaven; and he said..

“Lord God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You, who keeps your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.

“ You have kept what You have promised Your servant David my father; You have both spoken it with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.

“Therefore, Lord God of Israel, keep what You promised Your servant David my father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man sit before Me on the throne of Israel, only if your sons take heed to their way, that they walk before Me as you have walked before Me.

And now I pray, O God of Israel, let Your word come true, which You have spoken to Your servant David my father.

But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!

Yet regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O Lord my God, and listen to the cry and prayer which Your servant is praying before You today.

That Your eyes may be open towards this temple night and day, toward the place of which You said. ‘My name shall be there’. that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes towards this place; and when You hear. forgive.

When anyone sins against his neighbour, and is forced to take an oath, and comes in and takes an oath before Your altar in this temple, then hear in heaven and act and judge your servants, condemning the wicked, bringing his way on his head, and justifying the righteous by giving him according to his righteousness.

When your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and when they turn back to you and confess Your name, and pray and make supplication to You  in this temple, then hear in Heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them back to the land which You gave to their fathers.

When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, when they pray towards this place and confess Your name, and turn from their sin because You afflict them, then hear in Heaven and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, that You may teach them the good way in which they should walk; and give rain on Your land which You have given to Your people as an inheritance.

When there is famine in the land, or pestilence, blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers; when their enemies besieges them in the land of their cities, whatever plague or whatever sickness there is; whatever   prayer, whatever supplication is made by anyone, or by all Your people Israel, when each one knows the plague of his own heart, and spreads out his hand towards this temple, then hear in heaven, Your dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You, only You, know the hearts of all the sons of men), that they may fear You all the days that they may live in the land which You gave to our fathers.

Moreover, concerning a foreigner, who is not of Your people Israel, but has come from a far country for Your names sake (for they will hear of Your great name and Your strong hand and Your outstretched arm) when he comes and prays towards this temple, hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, that all peoples of the earth may know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and that they may know that this temple which I have built is called by Your name.

When Your people go out to battle against their enemy, wherever You send them, and when they pray to the Lord towards the city which You have chosen and toward the temple which I have built for Your name, then hear in Heaven their prayer and supplication, and maintain their cause.

When they sin against You (for there no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and they take them captive to the land of the enemy, far or near; yet when they come to themselves in the land where they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication to You in the land of those who took them captive, saying ‘We have sinned and done wrong, we have committed wickedness;

and when they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who led them away captive, and pray toward their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen and the temple which I have built for Your name: then hear in heaven Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause, and forgive Your people who have sinned against You, and all their transgressions which they have transgressed against You; and grant them compassion before those who took them captive, that they may have compassion on them

(for they are Your people and Your inheritance, whom You brought out of Egypt, out of the iron furnace), that Your eyes may be open to the supplication of Your servant and the supplication of Your people Israel, to listen to then whenever they call to You.

For You separated them from among all the peoples of the earth to be Your inheritance, as You spoke by the hand of Your servant Moses, when You brought our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord God.” [1 Kings 8:22-53].

Daniel

And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:  And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said...

 O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:

Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

O LORD, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.

O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.

To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;

Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.

Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.

And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.

As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.

Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.

And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

O LORD, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.

Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.

O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.

O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.  [Daniel 9:3-19]

Ezra

At the evening sacrifice I arose from my fasting; and having torn my garment and my robe, I fell on my knees and spread out my hands to the Lord my God, and said..

“ O my God: I am too ashamed and humiliated to lift up my face to You, My God; for our iniquities have risen higher than our heads, and our guilt has grown up to the heavens.

Since the days of our fathers to this day we have been very guilty, and for our iniquities we, our kings, and our priests have been delivered into the hands of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, to plunder, and to humiliation, as it is this day.

And now for a little while grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage.

For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage; but He extended mercy to us on the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to repair the house of our God, to rebuild it’s ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.

And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken Your commandments, which You have commanded by Your servants the prophet saying ‘The land which you are entering to possess is an unclean land, with the uncleaness of the peoples of the land, with their abominations which have filled it from one end to the other with their impurity.’

‘Now therefore, do not give your daughters as wives for their sons, nor take their daughters to your sons; and never seek their peace and prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good of the land, and leave it as an inheritance to your children forever.’

And after all that has come on us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, since You O God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such deliverance as this,’

“Should we again break Your commandments and join in marriage with the people of these abominations? Would You not be so angry with us until You had consumed us, so there would be no remnant or survivor?

O Lord God of Israel, You are righteous, for we are left as a remnant, as it is this day. Here we stand before You, in our guilt, though no one can stand before You because of this.  [Ezra 9:5-15]

And Mary said:

“My soul magnifies the Lord,

And my spirit has rejoiced in God my savior.

For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant;

For behold, all generations will call me blessed.

For He who is mighty has done great things for me,

And holy is His name.

And His mercy is on those who fear Him

From generation to generation.

For He has shown strength with His arm;

He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

He has put down the mighty from their thrones,

And exalted the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things.,

And the rich He has sent away empty.

He has helped His servant Israel,

In remembrance of His mercy,

As He spoke to our fathers,

To Abraham and to His seed forever.”

Luke 1:46-55

The Lord’s Prayer

After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

 Thy will be done in earth,

as it is in heaven

Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread

And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Amen

 Matthew 6:7-13 KJV.
